Roll It Forward provided a fleet of Giant bicycles for a women's health fair put on by the Good Shepherd Church in Roxbury. The day started off slow...
Volunteers from the Boston Cyclists Union tried to stay cool under the baking sun. With limited success.
Noah from BCU passed the time by playing "pick up the bottle." Try it, it's harder than it looks. Well, it's a little easier when you're 6' 4" and you're riding around on a 5' 10" guy's bike.
After listening to lectures on personal finance, small business, and nutrition, the attendees of the health fair descended upon the bicycles like children on the candy spewed forth from a burst piƱata.
The bicycles were in high demand., and as each successive group returned from their forays into the neighborhood, the momentum built...everyone wanted in on the fun. Young and old...
"Mama" hadn't ridden a bike since the last time the Bruins won a Stanley Cup. Looks like she was having a good time, she probably won't wait that long before she rides a bike again this time around. Of course she wouldn't have to wait all that long because we all know that the Bs are gonna win it again next year. Right?
Jacqueline at Good Shepherd is planning on creating a fitness club for the church and cycling will be one of the major components. And that type of thing is what it is all about!
